Driving an Alfa Romeo Giulietta

Cars. Gotta love 'em. Luxury marques or high-spec sports cars, driving a great car can be a sublime experience. So when I needed a hire car, I turned to a quality Italian marque, Alfa Romeo, and their Giulietta for some fun. Here's what happened.

Sunglasses 2011

After a hectic weekend of partying and a three-day hangover (be warned the delights and dangers of a flowing punch bowl and a hosts' ingenious idea of a personal ladle - apparently the new must-have device for any party-goer), it is time to indulge in my favourite fashion fantasy: sunglasses.

I mean, what better way to hide the signs of alcohol excess than behind a pair of big ones? Plus they protect the skin around your eyes, so they're definitely an essential purchase...

Those in the fashion-know are telling us to frame up and go big. So, whether you're hitting the slopes or have been hitting the bottle a little too hard, it's time to super-size your sunglasses.

I've been scouring the Internet since the party (obviously I can't be seen to leave the house and go shopping without dark glasses firmly in place) for the perfect pair and here are my top face-framers, which all get fashion full-marks.

Versace Winged Frame sunglasses

These sunglasses are so retro it's untrue. It's just a shame the collection has yet to hit the shops. I'm not sure I can justify to my boss spending a month or so in bed until they are available...

Chronicles of Never Tale of Seven sunglasses

If you are planning on hitting the après ski, opt for thick black specs from Chronicles of Never for a sur-le-piste hipster vibe.

Persol Scarlet Frame sunglasses

For a glam Klosters look, try big frames with a bit of colour to your shades. These ones from Persol are perfect for adding a nice hue to a cold winter's day.

Burberry Sport Aviator sunglasses

And finally, who said sporty can't be chic? I'm seriously in love with these white aviators. Just don't drop them in the snow in case you can't find them again!

Once I've finally decided which of these specs to purchase, all I need to do is add plenty of fake fur and some serious swagger and hopefully I'll be transported from my bed and into Gstaad, Switzerland in no time (wishful thinking!).
